Photo Manipulation

Photo Manipulation
People often say to me that they wish they were able to do what I do and I always tell them to try it and then keep trying. Eventually you will discover it's secrets and be able to twist and tear and reshape anything into whatever you want it to be. Being able to blend images seamlessly together in order to create a completely new and unique image has to do with your artistic vision, but more importantly with understanding the program that you use and how to use that programs functions and tools. Understanding the program itself is very important. Once you have an understanding of how it works, the rest is just practice, practice, practice. When I started doing this, I knew what I wanted to do, but had no idea how to do it. I was then asked by my sister if I could try my hand at creating a few fairy images for her. I bravely said yes and the rest is history. You need to have some artistic ability in you, but I still say practice is everything. Over the past two years, my skill and ability has improved to a point where my early attempts are almost embarrassing, but they got me to where I am today and will therefore always have a special meaning to me...you won't be seeing them though (LOL). If you are in awe of others, good, because that is what will make you a better artist. Copy them, try and figure out the techniques they used, ask them questions, study their art and practice, practice, practice. Another special skill you need to develop as an artist, is the ability to take criticism at it's worst and use it to your advantage. Remember as well that some people who give you a bad critique, are simply jealous of your work and ability. Ignore them and concentrate on the critique given by people who know what they are talking about. There is always room for improvement...you are not perfect, and never will be.
You come to nature with all your theories, and she knocks them all flat.

People want to find a "meaning" in everything and everyone. That's the disease of our age, an age that is anything but practical but believes itself to be more practical than any other age.
